Hide and seek for the whole family, everyone on their own phone or computer.

Starting a game

One person taps Start a new game and gets a four-letter code. Everyone else taps Join a game and types the code, or opens the invite link. People without the app can play in any web browser at hide-seek.beyondthecourse.app. When everyone is in, the host taps Start the game. You need at least two players.

Playing

Hiders get a 10-second head start while seekers wait with their eyes closed. Seekers carry lanterns and can only see a little way, and their meter shows how close the nearest hider is: cold, warm, hot, very hot. Bump into a hider to catch them. On a phone, touch and drag in the lower part of the screen to move. On a computer, use the arrow keys or W A S D.

Problems

• "Reconnecting": the game keeps your place for 45 seconds if your connection drops or your phone locks. Open the app again and it rejoins on its own.
• "No game with that code": check the letters with the host. Codes never use I, L or O.
• A name was refused: some words aren't allowed because children play too. Try another name.

Report a name or a player

In the lobby, tap the player and choose Report this name, or write to us directly. The host can also tap a player and choose Remove from this game; removed players can't rejoin that game. We read every report.
